Little Den Daycare Report

Little Den Daycare Report
Submitted by: Sandra Mackedenski, President

This past year Rossburn opened the doors of its new licensed daycare facility, Little Cub’s Den. As a fundraiser, the daycare rented 40 acres of land and planted a crop of canola in the 2008 crop year.

The fundraiser was a great success due to all the input and machinery and labour donations we received. Rossburn Little Cub’s Den would like to recognize the following businesses/individuals who graciously donated towards this fundraiser:

  • Paul & Mildred Strank: Rented land
  • Ashley, Manley & Leonard Mackedenski: Fertilizing, picking stones, harrowing, combining
  • Darren Luhowy: Seeding
  • Wade Bartkiw: Swathing and hauling canola
  • Lorne Tanasychuk: Hauling fertilizer
  • Richard Bilinsky: Hauling canola
  • Kaskiw Krop Kare: Spraying (approx. $200)
  • Dekalb Seeds: 2 bags Round-up Ready Canola (approx.$750)
  • Brett Young Seeds: 2 Bags Round-up Ready Canola (approx. $750)
  • P & H Glossop: 1 Ton 46-0-0 Nitrogen (approx. $630)
  • Pioneer Grain: $500 Phosphate
  • Dow Agro: Vantage + for 40 acres (approx. $250)
  • Monsanto: Round-up for 40 acres and T.U.A. (approx. $800)
  • Farmer’s Hail Insurance: $250 premium

We yielded approximately 35 bushels an acre and averaged $9.00/bushel. After expenses, we made a profit of around $9000.

A big thank-you to Ashley Mackedenski for doing a fantastic organizing job!
