Ukrainian immigrants arriving in the Parkland region of Manitoba were faced with daunting obstacles, not the least of which was clearing the heavily treed terrain to create farmland. They persevered, however, and amongst the proudest legacies are the remarkable churches they left behind. Invariably, these buildings were the one cultural connection to the home country, and the variety of designs visible throughout the Parkland are testament to the vibrancy of that culture.
