Presentation June 4, 2009 at the National Community Economic Development Conference in Winnipeg: Rossburn’s success of establishing a licensed daycare |
 |
Author :Ilse Ketelsen
Rossburn itself is a smaller rural community with close to 1200 people situated at the South-West corner of the Riding Mountain National Park.
Waywayseecappo First Nation is close by and we are about 1 ½ hrs away from Brandon. Agriculture has always played an important role in growth (and decline), but some shifts towards recreation and “cottage country” have been taking place over the last few years
Rossburn has Elementary- and High School; we have a medical clinic, lots of recreation opportunities and a full time Recreation Director to keep programs running throughout the year. In the last few years more and more young families have settled here (or come back) to raise their children. All of a sudden, we faced our own mini “baby boom” but what we didn’t have, was a licensed daycare center.
